Workshops

BC Soccer, in collaboration with several organizations pleased to present and offer a bundle of workshops and courses to parents, coaches and organizations across British Columbia. These workshops promote to all BC Soccer members the fostering of a safe, fun and respectful environment for all. By members of our association completing any of the below workshops, they will be given the appropriate tools to help create the most positive environment possible for players to develop in while also providing ongoing educational opportunities.

BC Soccer is pleased to provide our members the following workshops:

Soccer First Aid
Taught by Athletic Therapists, Physiotherapists and Physicians. Participants are guided through management of emergency and non-emergency scenarios, and emergency planning basics. This interactive course will give coaches confidence to recognize and effectively manage sports injuries. A 1-day course hosted by SportMedBC.

Concussion Management
Taught by Athletic Therapists, Physiotherapists and Physicians. Participants will acquire valuable knowledge that will enable them to help athletes affected by concussion injuries. A 1.5-hours workshop hosted by SportMedBC.

Movement Preparation
An effective training program performed as a warm up before practices and games to enhance performance and durability.  Movement preparation not only prepares the body for movement, it also reduces the risk of injury during physical activity and builds skills necessary for performance often neglected during regular training. A 2-module course hosted by Sport for Life.

Female Initiative Workshops
LTAD Considerations to Actively Engage Girls and Young Women Presentation
Discussion will focus on several key issues central to supporting girls and young women as athletes and leaders, including training environments, injury prevention, role models, and “on- and off-ramps”. Practical recommendations will be provided. This presentation can be delivered in-person or via webinar. A 1.5-hour presentation hosted by CAAWS.

Respect in Sport
Respect in Sport was developed as a grassroots online tool, so sport and community organizations can deliver on their commitment to creating a safer environment for coaches, managers, trainers, administration, volunteers and even parents. A 2.5-hours workshop hosted by Respect in Sport Group.
