Referee Annual Registration

Annual Referee Registration / Vulnerable Sector/Enhanced Police Information Checks

Youth, District, Regional, Provincial, National and FIFA Referees  
There are NO annual registration fees to become a BC Soccer Registered Referee. There is, however a $65.00 (plus a $4.46 user fee / plus GST) fee to register and attend an annual BC Soccer Outdoor Refresher Clinic. 
 
Referees MUST attend an annual BC Soccer Outdoor Refresher clinic, to be updated on the latest Laws of the game, and automatically registered on April 1st for the following year (April 1-March 31).
 
Unregistered/Late Registration
Coastal Referees who have not attended or completed (including payment) a Fall Outdoor Refresher Clinic, and Interior Referees who have not attended or completed (including payment) a Spring Outdoor Refresher Clinic, in person or online through RefCentre will NOT be automatically registered on April 1st for the following year (April 1 – March 31). Referees who are not currently registered, will be required to complete an Outdoor Refresher Clinic, and registration before they can begin officiating in the current season. 
 
Returning Referees
If a referee wishes to re-register with BC Soccer, and has not registered in the past two years, they must apply to BC Soccer. The application would include proof of successful completion of an Entry Level exam.  Upon review of the application a decision would be made, and instructions provided to the referee for re-registering with BC Soccer. 
 
Registering for an Outdoor Refresher Clinic
Important Note: Referees MUST register online AND complete registration (including payment) via RefCentre prior to completing an Outdoor Refresher clinic.
 
To register for a BC Soccer Outdoor Refresher Clinic please follow the steps below:
1. Log in to your Ref Centre account at www.refcentre.com in the top right- hand corner with your e-mail address and password. If you have forgotten your password, please click the "Forgot Password" button in the top right-hand corner and your password will be e-mailed to you.
2. Go to ‘Registration’ then ‘Refresher Courses’. Click register and follow the prompts to complete your registration for the Outdoor Refresher Clinic.
3. Once a referee has completed registration (including payment) via RefCentre, and attends the annual BC Soccer Outdoor Refresher clinic, they will be automatically registered April 1st of the following year (April 1-March 31)
4. Referees who have not completed registration for the BC Soccer Outdoor Refresher clinic (including payment) via RefCentre will NOT be allowed to participate.

Vulnerable Sector Checks / Enhanced Police Information Checks:
All referees aged 19 years and older must have a valid Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check on file with BC Soccer. This means that if you are 19 years of age or older, you will be required to comply with the policy in order to continue officiating in BC Soccer sanctioned activity.
 
Options for Completing a Vulnerable Sector Check / Enhanced Police Information Check:
1. Local Police/ RCMP – Fill in and bring the attached letter (click here) into your local police or RCMP (where you reside) to request a Vulnerable Sector check. Please be advised that the fee for these checks varies by local police/RCMP station. Once the check is completed, please be advised that the RCMP will not share the results of your check; therefore you will be required to share the results directly with BC Soccer via one of the following:
  • Email refereecrc@bcsoccer.net
  • Mail to the attention of Lynda Mulder, BC Soccer 205-3410 Lougheed Hwy, Vancouver, BC, V5M 2A4
2. Online through MyBackCheck. Important Note:The Enhanced Police Information option can only be used if you have not been required to do fingerprinting in the past. If your name or birthdate has been flagged in the past, and you’ve been required to obtain fingerprinting, please complete your check with Option 1 above. (Using this option could result in additional fees incurred).
 
To complete your online check through MyBackCheck:
  • From the first dropdown select “REFEREE” 
  • From the second dropdown location select “REFEREE” 
  • If you are NEW to mybackcheck you will be required to register first, prior to completing your online check 
  • If you already have an account with mybackcheck please login with the login information set up on the account (If you require assistance with accessing your mybackcheck account, please contact mybackcheck, as BC Soccer does not have access to this account information) 
  • The fee for this check is $34.50 
  • Once the check is conducted and completed, the results will be shared directly with BC Soccer 
 
3. Criminal Records Review Program (Ministry of Justice)

Small-Sided Referees
Small Sided referees are required to complete an annual Online Small Sided Refresher quiz, and complete registration including a $15.00 fee (plus $4.46 system user fee, includes GST). Once a small sided referee successfully completes the online refresher course, and registration, their Annual Registration will be completed.
 
To complete the online Small Sided Refresher quiz and Registration please follow the steps below:
1. Log in to your Ref Centre account at www.refcentre.com in the top right- hand corner with your e-mail address and password. (If you have forgotten your password, please click the "Forgot Password" button in the top right- hand corner and your password will be e-mailed to you).
2. Go to ‘Registration’ then ‘Register Now’. Click on the online refresher link, and then start button to complete the small sided online refresher quiz.
3. Once the online small sided refresher quiz has been completed, refresh the page and/or log out and back into RefCentre go to ‘Registration’ then ‘Register Now’ to complete the registration (including payment).
4. Referees who have not completed the online small sided refresher quiz and registration (including payment) before April 1st annually, will NOT be automatically registered for the season (April 1 - March 31).
