League1BC welcomes Altitude FC as founding License Holder

Club representing the North Shore becomes the 4th group counting down to kick-off for May of 2022.

November 15th 2021 - Vancouver / North Shore BC

The coastal mountain range that features Cypress, Grouse and Seymour, provides Lower Mainlanders with year-round adventure and activity, while offering the majestic backdrop to an already beautiful metropolis.

But when you live on the North Shore, you see the Lower Mainland from an entirely different perspective.  You are elevated, you are closer to the sky, and sometimes, you are even shrouded in cloud and rain, when others aren’t.  And that’s why on the North Shore, you have an “altitude attitude”.   And because the local range is at your doorstep, hiking, skiing and Grouse-Grinding, is just part of who you are.

League1 BC is thrilled to introduce its newest Licence Holder, in the form of Altitude Football Club, wearing the colours of “Cypress Blue” (Pale Blue), “Grouse Grey” and “Seymour Summit” (white).  And like the name suggests, the club’s ambition is to regularly reach the summit before everyone else.

Although Altitude FC is proudly based in North Vancouver, the club aims to attract support from the entire North Shore, all the way from West Van to Deep Cove, and Sea to Sky Country as well.

The North Shore Youth Soccer Association is one of the biggest and proudest youth soccer bodies in the Province,” says club rep Mark Marshall.  “Having a League1 BC semi-pro club that local youth and their families can support and aspire to play for is a rare opportunity for this community.  Altitude FC aims to galvanize the competitive spirit found in our youth clubs, local colleges and universities, as well as players who have been forced to move away and play elsewhere, into one voice and team behind which the whole community can throw its support.”

“We intend to provide more opportunities for young men and women with higher level aspirations to have the time and club-support to help them mature as players, as they transition from youth football to adult high-performance soccer,” says Technical Lead Faly Basse.  “League1 BC balances the typical pressure to perform immediately found in most pro soccer leagues with the strong support and development environment of a semi-pro club that has players that straddle both the amateur and pro levels.”

Gabriel Assis, Director of Operations for BC Soccer stated: “We are overwhelmed by Altitude FC’s commitment and professional approach to League1 BC already and we are excited with the opportunity to bring this level of competition to all communities on the North Shore. I look forward to watch the club grow and prosper, creating more opportunities for all participants in the area.”

Altitude FC will play at one of the most picturesque and historically significant grounds in the Lower Mainland; Kinsmen Stadium.  The club and its partners are committed to working very hard with the City of North Vancouver to ensure the venue meets League1 Standards, with future ambitions to explore facility improvements and upgrades.
