BC Soccer Delivers its NEW C License Coaching Course in North Vancouver in Conjunction with Training Regional Learning Facilitators

The new C License replaces the B-Pretest course and becomes the entry level for coaches who are pursuing the Licensing Stream coaching pathway (C License, B License and A License programs). Coaches who currently hold a B-Pretest designation will have a 2 Year window ending December 31, 2017 to enter the Provincial B License program directly.  After this date, the B-Pretest will cease to be recognized and any coach who does not hold a B License Provincial designation or higher will be required to meet the entry requirements for the C License prior to progressing in the Licensing Stream.

BC Soccer is pleased to provide to the members an update on Candidates for the Board of Directors

Vancouver BC May 20 2016 - BC Soccer would like to advise the membership that further candidates have stated their intension to seek election at the 2016 BC Soccer Annual General Meeting.  The 2016 BC Soccer Candidates for the Board of Directors document has been updated to reflect this.

Should there be further individuals within the soccer community who wish to make their intensions known, BC Soccer requests they complete the BC Soccer Board Candidate Form and submit to the BC Soccer Office.  Should any more submissions be received prior to the AGM, BC Soccer will update the 2016 BC Soccer Candidates for the Board of Directors document, repost on this page and circulate to the membership each Friday leading up to the AGM.

The BC Soccer Nominations Committee would also like to remind the membership of the All Candidates Meeting scheduled for Wednesday May 25 in the BC Soccer offices commencing at 6:30pm.  This will provide the opportunity for the membership to speak to the individuals seeking election.

Vancouver BC April 19, 2016 - BC Soccer believes that coach, parent, and player education regarding player health and concussions is of utmost importance and they would like to make everyone aware of a free concusion webinar that is happening on Thursday April 28 at 6:30 PM.  The webinar will be hosted by Dr. Shelina Babul who is the Associate Director and Sports Injury Specialist at the BC Injury Research and Prevention Unit. Dr. Babul also has led the development of the free online resource “Concussion Awareness Training Tool (CATT)” available at: www.cattonline.com

BC Soccer Completes 80 Percent of 2012-2015 Strategic Plan Objectives

Vancouver BC, March 14, 2016 – In 2012 BC Soccer announced the 2012-2015 Strategic Plan, it also published the 52 specific quantitative objectives which the association set to achieve the plan. The Strategic Plan and its specific quantified objectives, which has been a guiding light for the association over the last 3 fiscal years, were provided to the membership and made public as BC Soccer holds itself accountable for “doing what we said we would do”.  As the plan progressed, 2 objectives were broken into 4 therefore bringing the total of Quantified Objectives to 54.

FUNDAMENTALS (Stage 2 'Fun with the Ball' U7-U9)

At this stage, players should participate in stimulating practices and games that develop basic technical skills in a FUN atmosphere. The emphasis should be movement exercises and games that promote a feel for the ball while teaching basic principles of play within a fun but structured setting. Mini game formats are used, ranging from 3v3 to 5v5 and a basic league schedule can be created but no standings should be kept. All players should play equal time and try all team positions, including goalkeeper, and equal time should be allotted to practices and games.

Retreat Line for U13 BCSPL Intake

As the intake under 13 player begins their involvement with the EA Sports BC Soccer Premier League, there will be amendments made to the FIFA Laws of the Game to assist with the full field transition during the September to November timeframe.

The use of a retreat line will be introduced to promote young players during goal kicks to improve their ability to play out from the back rather than kicking the ball away from their goal and down field.

By introducing a retreat line, the EA Sports BC Soccer Premier League believes that the game will become more rewarding for intake players graduating into the under 13 age group in January 2015.

BC Soccer provides enhanced Constitution and Bylaws Templates

BC Soccer’s ultimate goal with this project is to improve and ease the process for submitting and approving BC Soccer forms (all forms), by moving them to an online environment.  This is where the membership in its widest sense will really start to see the value and benefits in this project.

BC Soccer FREE Futsal Festival

BC Soccer is thrilled to announce its inaugural free Futsal Festival which will take place January 4-5, in partnership with the University of Fraser Valley (UFV). BC Soccer Premier League season kicks off February 23

Vancouver, BC: The EA Sports BC Soccer Premier League (BCSPL) launches its second season of play on February 23 with 23 matches on opening weekend.  Opening weekend matches will take place in Vancouver, Surrey, Abbotsford and Victoria.

Governance Committee Requests Bylaw or Rule Change Submissions

Attention BC Soccer Membership;

As most are aware, bylaw changes must be presented to the membership a minimum of 30 days prior to the BC Soccer AGM, and the governance committee must receive submissions from members 45 days prior to the AGM (May 1, 2013).
