Burnaby's Christine Sinclair Appointed as an Officer of the Order of Canada.



January 25, 2018 Vancouver BC - BC Soccer congratulates Christine Sinclair on her appointment as an Officer of the Order of Canada. Christine Sinclair has been an inspiration for young British Columbian soccer players for more than 17 years as a Canada Soccer National Team player. Her passion for the game, incredible talent, and humble nature have also inspired players all across the globe.

The Order of Canada is a three tiered order; Companion, Officer, and Member.  The Order of Canada is one of the nations highest civilian honor. It recognizes outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation.
"This is an incredible honor and we couldn’t be more proud of Christine Sinclair," said Kjeld Brodsgaard BC Soccer President. "For many of us it has been amazing to watch Christine Sinclair grow as a player and as a role model. She has positively impacted so many young players from across BC and Canada, both on and off the field,  making her very deserving of this honor" 

Sinclair played for Burnaby Girls Soccer Club leading them to 5 provincial titles before moving on to play for British Columbia and Canada.  As a member of the Canada Soccer’s Women’s National team for the past 17 years she has been Canada Soccer Player of the Year in 13 of those years and is currently the women’s second all-time leading international goal scored with 168.   She has led Canada to two Olympic Bronze Medals, a CONCACAF Championship victory, and countless international successes.
