BC Soccer's 2015 High Performance Programming

High Performance Programming for 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002 born players

Vancouver BC, March 25, 2015 – BC Soccer is proud to announce the  outline of their 2015 High Performance Programming.  A very successful Preliminary Project took place earlier in the year in January which will be followed up by phase one in May and phase two in June.    The program will continue to be based around the EA SPORTS BC Soccer Premier League Schedule (BCSPL) and will provide a platform for high-performance youth players to be assessed by Vancouver Whitecaps FC BC Soccer Coaching Staff and Canada National Team scouts.

“We are very excited to announce the full BC Soccer High Performance Program (HPP) for the remainder of the year especially following up on the successful preliminary evaluation  projects this past January,” said Luca Dalla Pace, BC Soccer High Performance Officer. ‘We are really looking forward to bringing in more HPP players for some exciting scouting opportunities which include the Portland Timbers Cup, Pacific Challenge Series and Western Canada Games.”

Phase one for the selected HPP players will begin May 13.  20 players (per age group/gender) will go through a six day local training phase followed by the Portland Timbers Cup which is a three day tournament in Beaverton, Oregon.

The second phase in July for the U13/U14 (2001/2002) age groups will consist of a local training phase from July 3-12. From there players will then participate in the Pacific Challenge Series hosted by BC Soccer at the University of British Columbia from July 13-19.  BC Soccer would also like to thank the Provincial Government for their grant support of The Pacific Challenge Series which will host competition from Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. 18 players (per age group/gender) will be selected for this competition phase.

A combined U15/U16 (1999/2000) will be competing in the Western Canada Games in Wood Buffalo, Alberta from Aug 11-16, 2015.  Prior to the actual competition a games team selection camp will take place from July 3-13 of 25 players and a Pre games Training camp of the selected 18 players (combined 1999/2000) for the games will be from Aug 1-10, 2015.

“It is going to be an exciting year for the BC Soccer HPP program and we want to thank all the BCSPL clubs for their commitment to the program as well as the players and coaches who were involved with the Preliminary Project”, said Carlos Grosso, BC Soccer Board of Directors and High Performance Committee Chair. “BC Soccer’s relationship with the Whitecaps FC and Canada Soccer make the HPP program a great scouting opportunity and with each age group taking part in a different competition the experience the players will gain is invaluable.”
