BC Soccer To Create Club Charter Program

After independent third party review BC Soccer will begin to create and launch a Club Charter Program

Vancouver BC, July 30 2014 - BC Soccer’s Strategic Plan 2012-2015 has been a guiding light for the association over the last three years and BC Soccer has delivered against a number of targeted objectives within it.  As they look to build on the Strategic Plan for 2016-2019, at its June annual general meeting BC Soccer released a Club Charter White Paper which identifies that developing and implementing an opt-in Club Charter Program which will assist them in delivering against more of their objectives surrounding pre-existing soccer development, governance and administrative objectives. BC Soccer looks to implement the opt-in club charter program by the end of this fiscal year.

“We are pleased to officially announce that BC Soccer will be creating and launching a Club Charter Program in the near future,” said Roger Barnes, BC Soccer President.  “The Club Charter Program will be open to all affiliate clubs with a baseline or entry club charter level that will be easily achievable by all clubs.  Developing and promoting the beautiful game is BC Soccer’s overall mission and this Club Charter Program will be integral in continuing to deliver against the strategic plan initiatives and BC Soccer’s overall mission.”

BC Soccer’s Club Charter Program will be open to all clubs that are play within BC Soccer’s member adult leagues and youth districts.  The charter will also be “opt-in” meaning clubs will have the choice to be a part of it. The baseline or entry level of the Club Charter Program will be achievable by all BC Soccer affiliate clubs, regardless of their size, location or whether they are youth or adult.  The Club Charter Program will also be based on three top line categories: Technical, Governance, and Administration. The program will then be further broken down within each of those categories and as clubs are able to complete or show evidence that they meet the standards outlined within each category they will receive a higher standing.

“We want to make it clear that the baseline of the Club Charter Program will be achievable by all of BC Soccer affiliate clubs regardless of their size or location,” said Don Moslin, BC Soccer Grassroots Committee Chair. “We want to be as inclusive as possible while creating a Club Charter Program that will help BC Soccer and their affiliate clubs achieve both long term and short term goals and objectives.”
