BC Soccer Hosts Successful B Provincial Coaching Course On Vancouver Island

23 coaching candidates filled the Alex Campbell Club House at the Blue Heron Field in Sydney for first weekend of the five day course

Vancouver BC, August 28, 2013 – BC Soccer hosted another extremely successful B Provincial Coaching Course on Vancouver Island last week.  23 coaches, 20 male and three female, participated in the three day training session at the Alex Campbell Club House and on the Blue Heron Field in Sydney, which will be followed up by two days of assessments on September 7 and 8.

“Coaches were challenged in dealing with high performance coaching demands and the 23 coaches who attended were engaged in an interactive and cooperative environment fostering critical thinking and problem solving throughout the course,” said Rob Csabai, BC Soccer Manager of Coaching Development. “It is always inspiring to see coaches who can broaden their existing knowledge, enhance the process of their thinking, and ultimately place greater value, while acknowledging their influence, in the development of our young players.”

The B License Provincial Course focuses on working with high performance youth soccer within the Train to Train Stage of Development. The course involves theory work including; stages of development, methodology of training, session planning and the laws of the game (11-a-side) as well as practical components which are heavily geared towards the ability of the coach to plan and implement effective training sessions based on a variety of technical and tactical coaching topics.

Coaches will undergo two 20 minute practical assessments on September 7 and 8 with each assessment based on assigned topics.  Successful participants will be eligible to apply for the B License National Course while those not meeting the standard will be required to retake the full course and assessment components.

The course was lead by BC Soccer Manager of Coaching Development Rob Csabai with support from Andrew Latham and Neil Turner and component specific instruction by Markus Reinkens (Soccer Science) and Luca Dalla Pace (Goalkeeping).

BC Soccer offers a variety of coaching courses for novice to experienced coaches. For more information on coaching courses offered by BC Soccer and how to participate in a coaching course please visit:
