BC Soccer hosts its second Technical Director Diploma Course

Vancouver BC, October 29, 2018 – Registration is now open for the BC Soccer Technical Director Diploma held at the FORTIUS Sport & Health Complex in Burnaby February 22-23, 2019.

“We were pleased with the tremendous attendance at our previous course where we trained over 80 individuals”, explains Rob Csabai, Manager of Coaching Development. “The more we can equip those in technical leadership roles, the better we can support the overall development of soccer in British Columbia”.

What is it about?

Modern day technical leadership is far more than just coaching. Technical Directors are now expected to be able to manage large soccer systems with responsibilities that stretch way beyond coaching players. They must plan their technical programs into a strategic pathway that develops their coaches and offers a training curriculum that coordinates these activities with practicality.

Who is it for?

This course is aimed for individuals who are responsible to provide the day to day technical oversight within a soccer organization. Depending on the organization’s structure, this person preferably holds a Technical Director’s title, but it’s not limited to this designation only and this person may be full-time, part-time or be volunteer based.  In fact, due to the broad general management skills that technical leaders increasingly need, the curriculum focuses heavily on managing technical budgets, reporting properly to the Board of Directors, communicating effectively especially to non-technical people.  Technical leaders need to be trained in many of the non-technical areas to allow them to be effective with the aim of making their programs attractive to soccer consumers and more!
