BC Soccer High Performance Program Evolves in 2016 to strengthen and further support the EA Sports BCSPL

BC Soccer looks to hire two part-time High Performance Leads to provide additional support to the BCSPL

Vancouver BC November 12, 2015 – The BC Soccer High Performance Program is continuing to evolve to further strengthen and support the EA Sports BC Soccer Premier League (BCSPL) and to better prepare players for Whitecaps FC and Canadian Soccer Association programs.  The 2016 High Performance program will see key initiatives put in place which will support the BCSPL and enhance the promotion of players along the player pathway.

“It is important that we continue to evolve the BC Soccer High Performance Program so that it can better support the EA Sports BCSPL as well as other programs within the player pathway including Canada Soccer and Vancouver Whitecaps FC programs,” said Carlos Grosso, Chair of the High Performance Committee. “The 2016 program will enable BC soccer to work more closely with the EA Sports BCSPL and will assist in creating a more collaborative environment between the BCSPL technical directors, coaches and BC Soccer development staff.”

One key initiative being implemented is for BC Soccer to strengthen its responsibility with technical oversight of the BCSPL and the franchise clubs. BC Soccer is in the process of developing a high performance license in consultation with Canada Soccer specifically regarding the philosophy and curriculum while also taking into account appropriate alignment with our professional club partner, Vancouver Whitecaps FC. This will ultimately provide a high performance environment for player and coach development that will better prepare players for the next step within the player pathway.

To support and ensure the license program is successful BC Soccer has created two High Performance Lead roles (part time) within the association to assist in providing Technical support to the BCSPL. These two roles will also be working with the EA Sports BCSPL technical directors and coaches as well the BC Soccer development staff to help evaluate and identify players throughout the year.

“We are really looking forward to rolling out these initiative and hiring the two part-time lead roles which will help ensure the success of the 2016 BC Soccer High Performance Program and the high performance license program,” said Chris Cerroni, BC Soccer Director of Soccer Development.

This evolution of the BC Soccer High Performance Program could only be achieved through the on-going partnership with Canada Soccer, Vancouver Whitecaps FC and all of the EA Sports BCSPL franchises.

Applications now closed for the part-time High Performance Lead opportunities
