BC Soccer expands partnership with KidSport by initiating special campaign designed to help families impacted most

The “Give and Go” campaign aims to collect donations from individuals/organizations and direct them towards youth soccer participant registration for families impacted by COVID19.

On Monday (August 24th), Via Sport released their updated Return to Sport Guidelines, subseqently BC Soccer’s Return to Play “Phase 2” Plan were released as well. The Via Sport and Canada Soccer endorsed plan allows soccer activity within BC Soccer’s membership to move to the next phase for soccer’s return; essentially allowing both youth and adult soccer to begin preparations for modified game/competition play.

Moving to phase 2 for soccer’s return is positive. However, despite this step, the impacts of the ‘pause in play’ over the last few months have and will continue to impact players, their families, and all organizations in the soccer system.

BC Soccer wants to help and has been exploring ways to support our members, clubs and ultimately the players and families as we all look to return to playing our game. Supporting those families financially impacted the most is the focus of our “Give and Go” campaign; specifically designed to support youth soccer in British Columbia.  Helping families register their kids in soccer is one of the best ways of supporting our members and the entire soccer ecosystem.

“Sport, and specifically soccer, we believe plays a vital role in all communities across BC and supports healthy and active living, along with the social connections made with team-mates and everyone involved.” said Jason Elligott Executive Director, BC Soccer. “Expanding our partnership with Kidsport, an organization that has been helping young players participate in sports since 1993, was an easy decision to try and help those who otherwise can’t afford, to get back on the field.” Elligott added.

BC Soccer sincerely appreciates any and all donations (no matter the size) and recognize the positive impact soccer will have on its participants and our community as a whole as we as British Columbians come to together and move forward.  Most clubs feature a link to KidSport funding within their on-line registration page.
