BC Soccer to hold and host five free “Learn to Train” Courses across the province

After a very successful FIFA Grassroots Course, BC Soccer will continue to demonstrate its commitment to coach education by offering Fundamentals and Learn to Train coaching courses for free to clubs, districts and leagues that request and deliver the course by March 31, 2014. To help build on the free coaching course initiative BC Soccer will also organize, host, and deliver five free Learn to Train courses across the province.

“Coach education is extremely important and we are excited to offer these courses for free to clubs across British Columbia,” said Rob Csabai, Manager of Coach Development at BC Soccer. “BC Soccer currently offers the Active Start course for free and this initiative is a great opportunity for member clubs, districts and leagues as they will be able to host and deliver the Fundamentals and Learn to Train coaching course at no cost as well.”

BC Soccer member clubs, districts and leagues will have from November 18, 2013 until March 31, 2014 to request and deliver the Learn to Train and Fundamentals coaching courses at no cost. BC Soccer will be covering costs associated with the course and will work with the local clubs to deliver each course to up to 25 coach participants.

“The recent FIFA Grassroots course was an incredible opportunity for regional grassroots tutors and we really wanted to offer something to all coaches across British Columbia and this initiative fit perfectly with our focus on coach education,” said Roger Barnes, President of BC Soccer. “This initiative also directly aligns with BC Soccer’s strategic plan by helping to reach the coach education objectives within the plan.”

To help build awareness to  this offer and to help drive coach education BC Soccer will also be organizing and delivering  Learn To Train coaching courses in Vancouver, Northern British Columbia, the Kootenays, the Interior, and one on Vancouver Island. Full details of these five courses will follow in the coming days.

Both of the coach education offers from BC Soccer are driven by the goals and objectives within the BC Soccer Strategic Plan. BC Soccer is advising members to request courses as soon as possible as this is a limited time offer and they are also encouraging all coaches and prospective coaches to take advantage of these coaching offers by enrolling and completing the appropriate course. All requested courses are subject to approval from BC Soccer.
