Friday, May 1, 2026

The 2026 Adult Provincial Championships kicked off in early April and for the last three weeks have provided us with great goals, clutch saves, incredible comebacks and twists and turns at every stage.

Here's a look ahead to the eight cup finals hosted on Saturday, May 2nd at Newton Athletic Park:

Men's A-Cup: Vic West FC vs ICSF Columbus

Vic West, of the Lower Island Soccer Association, opened the competition with a 5-0 win over Surrey United before they faced off against the Fraser Valley's Packenham Cup champions Chilliwack Rivers FA and brushed them aside 3-0 in the quarter finals. Which set up a Semi-Final matchup with last year's Provincial Finalists, BB5 United. Again, Vic West came out victorious with a 3-1 victory and conceding just a single goal on the way to the finals.

ICSF Columbus, of the VMSL Premier Division, opened the competition with a dominant 5-1 victory over Gorge FC before an all-VMSL matchup with Croatia SC which they won 2-1. Then, Columbus had another all-VMSL matchup with NVFC Norvan which they handled with ease as they booked their ticket to the finals with a 6-1.

Keith Millar Men's B-Cup: Campbell River Golden Wings vs Meraloma FC

Campbell River had a dominant home record throughout their VISL season and this continued into the opening rounds of Provincials. The Golden Wings started things off with a 3-2 win over Serbia United before a 2-1 win over Ladner FC. Then Campbell River travelled down to Victoria to face Juan De Fuca, who they narrowly beat out in their regular season. This time, Campbell River handled business with relative ease and won 4-2 to punch their ticket to the finals.

Meraloma FC is coming off a very strong VMSL season which saw them lose just once and secure promotion to Division 1 next season. The Lomas had a tough route the finals as they had to travel out to Mission, where they came out with a 2-0 win, before heading back to out to the Fraser Valley to face Abbotsford United, which they won on penalties. Then, in a Semi-Final matchup with the Richmond All Blacks, Lomas had a comeback for the ages as they scored twice in the final few minutes to send the game to penalties yet again. Another shootout win and the Lomas are in the Provincial Finals for the first time in the clubs 103-year history.

Deryl Hughes Men's Masters A-Cup: ICSF Columbus vs FC Sumy

ICSF Columbus of the VMSL O35 Premier Division had a buy into the quarter finals after their strong showing during the regular season. Columbus opened their tournament with a big 5-1 win over Vic West before narrowly defeating the Cowichan 49ers 5-4 on penalties to book their ticket to the finals.

FC Sumy won the VMSL O35 Premier Division and also had a buy into the quarter finals. Sumy defeated Surrey FC Pegasus 2-1 before another close match against LUSA Knights, which Sumy won 1-0 to secure an all-VMSL final.
