A typical RTP process will be made up of 6 steps. There must be a minimum of 24 hours before each step is assessed although this could be considerably longer than 24 hours. Oversight should be provided by a medical professional. CLICK HERE to view the 6 step process
1. Ensure coaches complete the NCCP Making Headway program.
2. Inform Parents and Players of their role in monitoring an athlete following any suspected injury
3. Distribute the SCAT 3 download with Coaches at the start of each season and make available at the Club website for Coaches, Parents and Players.
4. Encourage all to download the SCAT3 app to your mobile device

BC Soccer is pleased present the Respect in Sport Coach / Activity Leader E-learning Education Program.
Respect in Sport, Canada's only interactive, online certification program to protect our youth and enhance an organization's mandate for safe, fun and respectful environments for all. Respect in Sport was developed as a grassroots online tool so sport and community organizations can deliver on their commitment to creating a safer environment for all participants; coaches, managers, trainers, administration and volunteers and even parents!
The fee for this user friendly 2.5 hour online course is $30, collected by registration and payment process is done through Respect in Sport.
NCCP PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CREDITS
In collaboration with Coaching Association of Canada and ViaSport, coaches may now earn National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) Professional Development points through SportMedBC’s Sport Safety Courses and Workshops. Completion of the following courses and workshops will allow coaches to acquire NCCP Professional Development Points. SportMedBC can deliver sport-specific courses/workshops by request, or coaches can sign-up for scheduled community courses.
Sports First Aid (3.0 NCCP Professional Development Points)
This 8 hour course is taught by Certified Athletic Therapists. Participants are guided through emergency action planning, documentation, recognition and management of emergency and non-emergency scenarios, and basic injury prevention and management principles. This interactive course will give coaches confidence to recognize and effectively manage sports injuries.
Athletic Taping (3.0 NCCP Professional Development Points)
This 8 hour course is taught by Certified Athletic Therapists. This is an introduction to taping principles and procedures. Participants will gain an understanding of injury management and protective taping techniques for injuries related to the foot, ankle, knee, hip, groin, elbow, wrist and hand. Coaches will gain a valuable skill that can help their athletes to return to sport and prevent further injury.
Concussion Management (2.0 NCCP Professional Development Points)
This 90 minute workshop is taught by Athletic Therapists, Physiotherapists and Physicians. Participants will gain an understanding of best practices in concussion recognition, acute management, and return-to-play guidelines. This workshop is an integral part of a coach’s training. Coaches will acquire valuable knowledge that will enable them to help athletes affected by concussion injuries.
SportSmart: Injury Prevention and Performance (2.0 NCCP Professional Development Points)
This 90 minute workshop is taught by Athletic Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Strength & Conditioning Specialists. Safety and performance tips will help coaches understand how to better prepare athletes, prevent injuries, and facilitate the development of youth in athletics. Topics covered include sport preparation, recovery, and recognition & management of common injuries.
