| NATIONAL TRAINING CENTRE WEST PROGRAM |
|
The NTC program is designed to provide a formative, structured path along which young players can move from introduction to International Soccer at the age of 15, to International maturity between the ages of 18-20 under the direction of qualified professional coaches.
The primary goal of the NTC program is to produce International Players to the Canadian National Youth (U-20) Team. Players at that level must be comfortable with, and understand what is required of them to perform consistently and successfully at the highest level.
During the NTC Program, National Team Coaches will visit the National Training Centre -West four times (National Scouting Visits) to discuss player progress with each NTC Director and identify players who can compete internationally. Players will be assessed on a 8 week training period in the Technical, Tactical, Physical and Mental areas of the game. Following this evaluation, player's member status will be reviewed. The intent when visiting a NTC is not to keep all the players involved, but instead to keep the best players involved. Each National Team Coach visiting creates a report on their visit and submits it to all other National Team Coaches (including World Cup & Olympic Team) to keep everyone informed as to who should be considered for National Team Selection.
Part of the British Columbia Soccer Association's responsibilities under the National Training Centre Agreement are to meet the minimum standards set out by the Technical Department of the Canadian Soccer Association. These minimum standards relate to the policies and procedures of the High Performance Centre Program within British Columbia. These policies and procedures include the following:
- Facilities
- Certified Coaching Staff
- Establishment of Training Centre Schedule
- Establishment of Training Centre Weekend Visits
- Standardized Training Program
- Technical Tactical Development
- Monitoring Process
- Player Assessment
- Attendance Records
- Reporting Structure
The British Columbia Soccer Association fully supports the efforts of the CSA and the National Teams Programs and it is the hope of our association that we can work in a similar manner with our member clubs as we dedicate ourselves to the development of our players.
