| YOUTH PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS A HUGE SUCCESS! |
23 teams won provincial titles this past weekend and six teams representing the Under 14, 16 and 18 boys and girls A divisions have earned spots to attend the National Championships from October 8th-13th in Ontario, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island.
Congratulations to all teams that participated in these successful championships. Special recognition also to all of the local organizing committees, volunteers, and officials.

| ANNOUNCEMENT: BCSA APPOINTS ITS FIRST REGIONAL STAFF COACH |

VANCOUVER (July 15th, 2008) - The British Columbia Soccer Association has taken a new step forward in the development of players and coaches in BC with the appointment of its first regional staff coach, Dante Zanatta of Victoria.
Zanatta joins the BCSA team following his tenure as Head Coach of the Lower Island Soccer Association and Director of the BCSA / Lower Island District Development Centre program.

The British Columbia Soccer Association’s Technical Department is currently accepting applications for Head and Assistant Coaching positions within its Provincial Teams Program for the 2008/2009 Program season.
All candidates for these coaching positions should be of a professional standing within their community of soccer and share in the overall mandate and vision of the British Columbia Soccer Association’s Technical Department for player development within British Columbia.

| At the Board of Directors Meeting of June 28th, 2008, as directed by the membership, the Board passed a motion for a change of rule 23. For the 2008-2009 playing season, those teams playing in the U-17 and U-18 age groups shall be allowed to register no more than five (5) Out-of-District players. I am sure many of you saw over the weekend Slovakian referee Lubos Michel show a red card for a second offence to Russian defender Denis Kolodin in the quarter-final match with Netherlands only to withdraw it after speaking with his assistant referee. UEFA have stated that the referee had been convinced by his assistant that Kolodin's tackle did not warrant a caution.
